Cornelius Van Til ( Presuppositional Apologetics )

This site is sometimes difficult to track down but is invaluable for folks who enjoy Van Til.

I will check it out, I've never read Van Til...

On Clubhouse, they bring up Presupositional Apologetics a lot. A regular Atheist speaker objects to Presuppositionalism, but he will agree with me that everyone has presuppositions. To me, the argument is over at this point; why argue against using sound Presuppositions to build upon, when he thinks his presupposition is Sound?

People are instinctively Religious Creatures, this is apparent just by looking around the world. Why are there so many Religions around the world? Atheism hasn't made a Dent, and hardly scratches the surface of Theism. Accepting what I just said, is not a Presupposition; but there is a Presupposition that can be launched from what I just said. Here is the Presupposition; Atheists Suppress the truth in Unrighteousness. The Atheist says he has Presuppositions too. Atheists presuppose there is no God; but the Lord may be around the LAST corner...

Therefore, Presuppositional Apologetics support that the Fool has said in his heart there is no God; they have Suppressed the truth of Human Nature in Unrighteousness. This supports the Veracity of the Bible...

Yes we all have presuppositions no one is exempt. The difficult thing when reading or studying a passage is to be unbiased as if you are reading it for the very first time and not reading into it any presuppositions or doctrinal beliefs into the passage. Being objective is not an easy task when studying the bible. It gets back to the whole eisegesis/exegesis argument.

Boy howdy. We absorb bias through pretty much everything. A few years ago I started to really listen to the songs we sing during worship. As a result I just can't join in for a few of them. Sad but true.

Be careful of the theology being taught in your music, Gents.

Yes a very astute observation. The modern music is mostly man centered whereas the old hymns are God/Christ centered.
