We must remember that we are recipients of two things at once. One is the historic, once-for-all work in Christ--his righteousness for us. The other is/are things that God does in us through His Spirit. Many times Paul means the former but we try to find an experiential meaning.
On a larger scale there is even confusion from THE CHOSEN about this. I have heard them talk as though their own lives would be pretty much like what they see Jesus doing in the series, and as much as that would be great, we don't find that this is the case. That we have a 'package' accomplished for us by Christ so that 'Christ is our life' in one great passage, Col 3. This was a case where they had 'disqualified' by Judaizers who were telling them that to 'have' Christ as their righteousness was insufficient, or 2nd rate. I rarely notice the 'punctuation' of the theology of THE CHOSEN in the once-for-all-time event that is coming; Christ's gospel event.
We also don't find it to be the case when the Christian faith's 'birth' takes place during the 40 days and in Pentecost. We may see a few confirming miracles, but we don't see that healing people was uppermost in the messages. In the first three messages we see the forgiveness of God through Christ for the worst of sins, and we also see 3 profound statements that Christ's resurrection was his enthronement as envisioned by David, in Ps 110, in Is 9, etc. The world is now on notice that he is to be honored and this message should go to all rulers and carpenters alike.
This enthronement message becomes 'foolishness' to the Jews. If we go with Jn 12:34, the foolishness is that they expected a government in the normal sense, forever. The wisdom of God is that declaring that Christ deserves to be honored, is the power that the world's can't stop and gainsays their authority.
Sometimes, in contrast with other beliefs out there, it is 'sanctifying' for us to believe that we are dependent on Christ our righteousness.
