You would always get strange looks whenever you fed the neighborhood ravens. Pigeons or ducks? Sure. But ravens? "Hey, I give them food, they give me company," you would shrug.

But then, one day, a raven anxiously comes up to you and whispers, "…

Complete the story in 100 words or less, starting with what the raven said.

The raven croaked softly, “We’ve heard on the wind that folks here fear you for keeping our company. Are you to be feared, Queen?”

“No, I’m not to be feared!” she replied, laughing. “Don’t I feed and care for you and your kin, as ravens once sustained the Prophet Elijah? That’s no fearful thing. And please, don’t call me queen—I’m no one’s queen, just a soul who cherishes the beauty and divine providence of God’s blessed raven-bird.”

Satisfied there was nothing to fear, the raven flew away.

"I've been in the World since I flew forever from the Ark; I've been scavenging ever since. Like Sin, I fled the safety of you, my Aviary. By feeding Me, you are feeding my Mate who remains in you. She saw Me, and called out to Me; to feed HER hunger. I sneak up to the Windows of your Soul, and she eagerly takes of your kind gift to Me. This is why I keep you company "...

I sat Stunned, Frozen and Aghast. What should I do?!

As an Animal Control Officer, we got called to a lady feeding meat to Buzzards. They would roost in her trees and on her roofline; leaving a white crest of you know what on her house. There was nothing anyone could do; they are a protected species...

Long story short, it was a neighbor dispute in a nice neighborhood. When the neighbors got off her back, she stopped feeding them; and they left.

"...They've taken her. The girl in the red jacket. You must come."
You blink, heart skipping. The raven hops nervously, eyes sharp.
"Who took her?" you whisper.
"The ones who hide in fog and wear no faces. We tried to stop them."
Without another word, the raven flaps upward, circling, urging you to follow. You grab your coat, instincts louder than reason.
As you run beneath the trees, more ravens gather, forming a black cloud above.
Feeding them had always felt like a ritual.
Now, you realize—it was a pact.
And tonight, the debt is due.
