Why Protestant churches dont keep the Sabbath.

I was unable to post a reply on the above post...

According to Daniel 7:7 the fourth beast in the vision is Rome. Thus, what is spoken of in Daniel 7:25 refers to them..
Rome went by a different reckoning of time than the Jews in terms of months. With laws the Romans introduced Emperor Worship.
Thus, times and laws were changed.

That's not according to Daniel 7. That's more according to the Dispensational view of Daniel 7.

Daniel chapter 7 was written about 35 years after Daniel's vision of the great statue in chapter 2. Written in the first year of Belshazzar who was the last king of Babylon. Chapter 7 depicts four end-time beast and has nothing to do with chapter 2. Chapter 7 isn't a historical repeat of chapter 2. Why would God find it necessary to repeat the same message in two different visions by the same author? Why repeat the same sequence of kingdoms of Daniel 2 in chapter 7? Were there shortcomings in Daniel 2 that required repetition? Interpreters say that the Lion of Daniel 7 is Babylon.

How can the lion be Babylon when the date of the vision occurred in the first year of Belshazzar who was the last king of Babylon? The Babylonian Empire had already risen some 50 years before and was on its way out when Daniel 7 was written! Why would Daniel prophesy about a kingdom that was already in existence for about 50 years and soon to end? Some atheists have actually caught onto this blunder and used it to debunk the bible by calling Daniel a false prophet which he would certainly be, since he prophesied about something already in existence.

Who isthe little horn in the following verse?
8While I was contemplating the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like those of a man and a mouth that spoke words of arrogance.

That was a goof up on my part. Sometimes I'm unable to post under a quote box and that was one I was going to reply to.

Again, sorry on that one. That's not my words. I was having trouble getting out of a quote box - even after refreshing and ended up posting it.

Yes, but Pagan Rome (the Empire) was not the one changing the Sabbath, it was Papal Rome who rose up and set aside the truth of the early church, and you see it once the Roman Empire was taken out of the way

If you look closely, the Reformation studied the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation and basically showed how Papal Rome or the Papacy was the antichrist of prophecy. The Jesuits were called on and used to change this idea and were determined to lift the stigma from the Papacy by locating the Antichrist at some point where it could not be applied to the Pope and the Roman church. The Jesuits Ribera, of Spain, and Bellarmine, of Rome put out futurist interpretation. At the same time, Alcazar, Spanish Jesuit of Seville, advanced the preterist interpretation. These were designed to meet and overwhelm the Historical interpretation of the Protestants. The Preterism claim accomplished it by making prophecy stop altogether short of papal Rome's career. The Futurism view achieved it by making it basically jump over the full timeline of papal dominance, putting the Antichrist into the distant future, but history shows the true facts that cant be changed.

If one looks, the prophecy gives a general outline in history of these kingdoms in Daniel 2, 7, and 8 but it also gives specific marks that identify it. For instance, the fourth beast had ten "horns," and three of these horns were plucked up by another "little horn." So lets see what history tells us on this part, "behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots"

The prophecy is that the "little horn" should come up among the "horns" that divided the Roman Empire, and these were the ones that began the decline of the Empire. History shows that around 250 A. D., the Goths invaded the Roman Empire; and the Romans suffered a serious defeat, and the emperor Decius and his son were slain. The successor, Gallus, purchased peace by paying an annual tribute to the Goths. The Goths however, continued the attacks until about 271 the emperor Aurelian concluded a treaty with the Goths and Vandals, in which the Romans agreed to withdraw their forces from the great province of Dacia, and give it to the Goths and Vandals. This was the beginning of the dismemberment of the Roman Empire. The Alemanni overran the country from the Danube to the river Po in Italy, and they remained in the northern part of the empire, never retreating beyond the bounds of the Roman Empire.

Then the Emperor Constantine gave permission to the Vandals to settle in the provinces of Pannonia and Noricum. Now this is the same emperor Constantine who united the Catholic Church to the Roman state, and became the leader in religious legislation, and in its execution. As a pagan emperor, Constantine was the 'Pontifex Maximus' of the state religion; and now as a 'Christian emperor' he claims the same power, but now also calls himself a "bishop," and can rule over the church. In Rome the Roman Senate was still in power, and Constantine was tolerant of them; but in the East he enforced his power mostly unfettered. One of the reasons that Constantine's transferred the seat of government from Rome to Constantinople in 330 A. D., was to meet the onslaughts of the Goths in what is now Bulgaria.

Prophecy says that the "little horn" was "diverse" from the other horns, and we see the power it got in the head being the 'Pontifex Maximus'. In 445 A. D. the Roman emperor in the West, Valentinian III, by imperial decree made the bishop of Rome head of all the Western bishops. Leo the Great was pope at that time, and claimed and exercised all the prerogatives this decree included, calling himself the "Vicar of St. Peter." So the papacy came into power among the ten barbarian tribes of Europe, and three of these tribes were uprooted or basically taken out,

This little horn represents Rome in both its phases, Pagan Rome and Papal Rome. Daniel saw Rome first in its pagan, imperial phase, warring against the Jewish people and the early Christians, and then in its papal phase, continuing down to our own day and into the end. So its pretty clear who is this antichrist entity and something that shows even more. In Daniel chapter 2, the iron representing Rome continues into the feet of iron mixed with clay; that is, until the end of time. The little horn of Daniel chapter 7 comes from the fourth beast but remains part of this fourth beast, and we see it continues also until the end of time, "take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.'

Daniel 7:26
But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

@Hobie,

Having heard Hobie on this subject for many many years... I made the decision to consider Saturday as my day of rest....And come Sunday church

EX 20:8-10
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

So since normal church services are on Sunday... which I see as appropriate... that way, the minister and all involved within the church to
make it happen that day... are NOT WORKING on the Sabbath.

Because many of the people who make it happen are being paid. It is their labor.

Thanks Hobie ;)

And why Rella, do you see it 'as appropriate', when we see what Christ states..

Matthew 12:5
Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

He tells us a great truth here, God is pleased when we do what shows love for Him and our fellow man, especially on the Sabbath, as all the nurses, doctors, brethren visiting the sick or incarcerated, ministers, and many others do.

Simple. Because I can honor the Sabbath and honor God on Sunday when the church has its service.

There is no SDA remotely close to me. So it is either Sunday or no day to worship.

And I have been watching Pastor Doug Batchlor on FETV (Family) as he comes on early mornings SDA minister as he preaches not obly on the Sabbath but also on prophesy.

He has been speaking recently on the Sabbath and I have been, for a few years now using Sat. as my day of Rest... As I can

His ministry: Amazing Facts is a non-profit Seventh-day Adventist evangelistic ministry based in Granite Bay, California, which broadcasts daily television programming worldwide. It is based on the teachings of Scripture, with particular focus on the Three Angels' Messages of Revelation 14. Beginning as a radio program dedicated to Christian evangelism, it later expanded into television and online Bible study ministries.

God always opens a door for the faithful, so will pray that you are given one. As for Pastor Doug Batchelor, he is excellent, he used to go my wifes church in Miami so she knows him very well, always good to hear his sermons. Another one I like to put on is Professor Walter Veith who has some great sermons especially on Creation and the coming events.
