What Seventh-Day Adventist believe.

Seven complete, eternal, lacking nothing.

Sabbath is not a time sensitive word. It simply means rest with no other meaning added .

Makes me wonder why they did not use the English translation rest. . giving one obscure "sabbath" unfamiliar

Yes, he set a day to represent today 24\7 if we hear his voic e and do not harden our hearts Yoked with Christ the burden is made lighter with a living hope beyond the grace. New creatures new Spirit a promise of a new incorruptible body.

It would seem you are speaking of the ceremonial rest as a fast. Remember ceremonial laws are parables used a sign to the unbelieving world.

The spiritual gospel understanding is hidden from them. in a hope they might be drawn to the word of God the source faith. The understanding revealed to the believers. Believers have prophecy. We do not serve shadows of the eternal.

Not a sign to themselves (I did it, it proves it) ceremonial shadows of the unseen thing of God's faith His belief. as it is written
The Creator made it holy, not just a day of 24/7, but a specific time which He set aside, as we see, "God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:"

God blessed every day. And sanctified them.

Yes of course seventh meaning "perfect or complete throughout the Bible.

The word rest is not a time sensitive word. Why the translators used the Hebrew and not the English translation "rest". remains a mystery

The Sabbath is a symbol of God's sovereignty over all His creation. (Exodus 20:8-11) It is a reminder of His redemption of His people (Deut 5:12-15),and its representation of the hope of eternal rest at the consummation (Heb 4:4-10). In Matt 12:1-13 we see Jesus dealing with the Pharisee's misunderstanding of the Sabbath by adding to the law given while never seeing the true meaning of the Sabbath.

In Matt 12:8 Jesus declares that He is Lord of the Sabbath. What does that mean given what is said above? It means the Son of Man has received dominion (sovereignty) over all His creation (so also is He declaring His deity)and redemption.

As Lord of the Sabbath Jesus fulfills all aspects of the meaning of the Sabbath. (Col 2:8-19) and defines how His followers are to observe the Sabbath. Regulations that are opposed to the Sabbaths life sustaining and life restoring purposes are at cross-purposes to God's design for the day. (Matt 12:9-11) That would include assigning a particular day as the legal day of worship or adding legal requirements to it. Jesus as Son of God, Son of Man is our Sabbath rest.

Jesus is not a "day" nor is He ever symbolically/metaphorically linked to being a "day" in the Bible; He's linked to being "the vine", "the lamb", "the door", "the rock" and many other things but never, not once, a "day". We must stick to the Bible and the Bible only, and God made holy, the actual seventh day and makes a clear declaration of those going into the heavenly kingdom.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

He is referred to as the Day or Morning star. Or the day of the lord a time element .

The shadows of ceremonial laws to include the fast became complete as the result of the first century reformation.

Hebrews 9:8-10 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:Which was a figure (parable) for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Ceremonial laws are shadow as signs designed to the unbelieving world. In that way without parables Christ spoke not .

Not a sign to the performers .Believers have prophecy. It's an evil generation that seeks after a shadow of the eternal

The word rest(sabbath) is not a time sensitive word .Whenever we hear his choice and harden not of heart we have entered it. Would you agree? Or do we have to wait to the 7th day?

Below the result of worshipping shadows in ceremonial laws . Aarons two sons added their own personal touch to edifying their own self
They were consumed, the ceremonial attire not a hint of smoke . Same with the 7th day ceremonial shadow 7 to represent perfect or complete a sign to unbelieving world. Not to the performers

The attire was designed to represent the glory of God they took the glory of God beauty upon themselves

Exodus 28:40 And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.

Leviticus 10:1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.

The two days of rest from the work needed maintain these bodies . The first portion of that rest is preparation .A purifying fire is needed. If not the Manna becomes useless in that parable. The second day completes the rest as a show that pointed ahead.

One person did not prepare his heart and as to preparation He tried to build a fire and boil it on the day it was to be eaten He was killed in respect to his unbelief as a example

Numbers 15:32-34King James Version And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him

This does not at all address what I said, it simply deflects from it with the logical fallacy of implying that I said Jesus was a day when I did not. If you actually read and absorbed with comprehension what was said, you would understand the purpose and meaning of the Sabbath rest instead of misunderstanding it as the Pharisees did.

I think Christ gives the answer looking forward when He says..
Matthew 24:20
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

Now as I said before, I think its more appropriate discussion to have in a thread, rather than in this section. I leave it up to you...

For the Jews.
Would that be an outward Jew according to the flesh (DNA)or an inward Jew born again of the Spirit of Christ?

If any man has not the Spirit of Christ, they simply do not belong to God.

Romans 2:28-29 King James Version For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology (NIDNTT): This need not imply that Christ saw His followers continuing to observe the sabbath, but merely that it would be impossible to get help or buy what was needed in the emergency on a sabbath day in the vicinity of Jerusalem (3:410, Sabbath, W. Stott).

The word rest should have been used a clear understanding. Sabbath obscure . Rest is not a time sensitive word. In most translations they replace the word rest with week.

A better translation taking away the obscure word "Sabbath "a non-time sensitive word and gives the common English translation day of rest. Day 24\7 called today in Hebrews 4 the gospel rest to those who mixed faith (the understanding of God not seen) whenever we hear the voice of God and no not harden our hearts but do his will without murmuring. Jesus the Son of man our perfect example of the power of the Father

Mathew 24:20 You must pray to God about this time when you have to run away quickly. Pray that this time of trouble will not happen in winter. Pray that it will not happen on your day of rest.

The ceremonial law a shadow of the eternal not seen was a sign to the unbelieving world not to those used to demonstrate again a shadow.

Two days of resting from the five days of work. The first day in preparation for the second. The Day of the eating Today .

Hebrew 4: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

It would seem to say that day when eating of the bread of heaven (what is it? called Manna) it would represent the daily bread we seek after the father revealing his will and a new heart that gives us a desire to do it to his good pleasure.

Youngs Literal translates rest correctly once and then follows other using the work week rather that rest. The word week was not even part of the Greek language till hundreds of years later.

Matthew 28Young's Literal Translation28 And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,

Firsts or new era of rests. the shadow of the ceremonial laws became light. . the veil was rent the first day of the rest (today ) let there be children of light.

Matthew 28King James Version28 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

First day of the week limits it to one 24 hour day.

Toward one day ? or toward?

Whenever person hears the understanding of word of God the gospel of their salvation and do what he says they are resting. Yoked with Christ our daily burden is made lighter with a future hope beyond what the eyes see

Isaiah58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

The true fast. . . fasting from doing our own will, giving it over to the will of the Father . . . .not subject to time rather than his rest.

Isaiah58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
