What Does Manna Represent?

I cannot think of anywhere in Scripture where we are told that the manna represented anything. Jesus used the comparison of the fathers eating manna in the wilderness, and spiritually feeding on Him:

“57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 “This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”” (Joh 6:57-58 NKJV)

But He didn't say that the manna represented Him.

Interesting, there are 17 occurrences of manna in the Bible and here is one that may give a clue as to its representation...

Provision from God.

God provided FOOD where there was no food. The people "strolling" in the wasteland for 40 years had to learn to trust God (Jehovah Jireh) to supply all their needs. Saving a jar in the Ark with the staff represented God as the supernatural provider of their needs.

• Jesus spoke those words around 30 AD.
• How many 1300 year old people were walking around when Jesus spoke the words in John 6 and how many had “died” (as Jesus said)?

What is there to explain?
Jesus told the truth (Jesus’ “bread of life” is better than the mana that God sent to Moses’ followers).

God's Word remains true and a constant, regardless of the year spoken. He was referring to their forefathers, using the term 'fathers'.

Jesus told the truth (Jesus’ “bread of life” is better than the mana that God sent to Moses’ followers).

The mamma in the wilderness was food for the body---very necessary ---and provided by God. But the flesh profits nothing towards eternal life. Only Christ is the manna (food) that gives eternal life.
