I am posting this video because, even though the Charismatic churches are not directly affiliated with NAR, many of the same teachings and practices exist in it. I do not make this claim against all Charismatic churches but to the many I have borne witness too and that we see on TV and social media. In all, I believe, is a focus on experiences, and worldly needs and how to get them, rather than sound doctrine. When they appear to be teaching from the Bible, I have found that they are actually preaching subjective application that is not grounded in the full counsel of God, but isolated scriptures pulled from context, and used to teach what is false.

I couldn't do that video, pretty sure he was cursing.

At any rate... wow. Okay..

So how do we engage them then, when we run into them on forums?

Just roll past it. He is speaking in"tongues". It doesn't last very long.Some good info in there.

You really can't. There is a place in the video where he quotes from Kingdom of the Cults. I have that book so when I get a chance I will see if I can find it. But in it it says exactly what I have run into when engaging on forums with Charismatics. And we run into the same thing and for the same reasons when we engage with any false religion and false teachings that have been ingrained into people, including Catholics and the free willies. It becomes impossible to reason with them. All we can do is pray and that is no small thing.

@Hazelelponi

We can try when we run into them on the forum by simply giving the biblical facts and supporting it. You never know when God will open someone's eyes. I came out of the cult I was raised in (Christian Science) and also came out of the realm of the Charismatics. I was in it for twenty some years. But it just didn't sit right and when my brother introduced me to Reformed theology it was like a thirsty deer to cool clear water for me. What makes the difference I don't know, other than it is God opening eyes. I don't know why some and not others. My sister is still in it and no way can I talk to her about it. I have tried, early on, and the results were disasterous.
