Our big day was… well, two days, both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve we had family and friends over, from 11:00 am onward, for an early Christmas dinner (mid-afternoon) and then socializing over drinks. That was nine people—a lot for us, so I can’t imagine 14 people.
Then Christmas Day began with just us—our little ones actually slept in until 6:00 am, if you can believe it—starting with opening our stockings. Then an extravagant, very unhealthy breakfast consisting of pancakes with a wide range of toppings to choose from. (I chose mashed bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream.) Then the grandparents arrived for opening presents around 10:00 am, which was followed by several hours of more socializing over platters of food—a variety of crackers, meats, and cheeses, and an array of treats like Christmas cake, shortbread cookies,
butter tarts, etc.
Way too busy for us, as a couple of introverts, but it’s only once a year.
