Our God Reigns Universally
[MOD HAT: Content removed that violated rules 4.10.1 and 4.10.2.]

It might surprise some of you that Ambassador Paul was a zealous partisan, a Pharisee, before he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. (See Acts 26:5.) He abandoned this separatist religion to live for Jesus. In our day, the redeemed community includes believers who are still caught up in the web of “Churchianity,” for God’s children are scattered over a diversity of partisan terrains. However, God’s new reign stretches far beyond the borders of any sect, church, religious party, or cult. “Churchianity” reigns over a restricted territory. God’s reign is universal.

And while it may be wise to remove the apostate church entirely and start over, considering how grave “mad church disease” has plagued her, nonetheless many of her children may choose to remain where they are and work for reform. This is not always possible, however, because the apostate church “would rather fight than switch.” Reformers are not always welcome within her ranks. They are usually accorded the “left boot of fellowship.”

Martin Luther wanted to work within the sinister Roman Catholic Church for reform, but the scandalous Vatican would have no part of it. Instead, they sought his life. He escaped the “Holy See’s” murderous hounds, but the sinister Vatican continued their efforts to find him and “do him in.”

Let it be understood that Jesus did not die for religious parties, churches, denominations, or cults. Instead, He died for Jews, He died for Gentiles, He died “for all the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one” (John 11:52). Jesus is not interested in uniting churches, denominations, and cults. He’s interested in uniting all of God’s scattered children, wherever they are, to bring them together into one body of believers, “so that they may be united as we [Son and Father] are united” (John 17:11).

Let it be emphasized that religious factions marching under partisan labels were founded by men centuries after Jesus ushered in His new reign. These include the Baptist Church, Methodist Church, Church of God, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Catholic Church, Christian Church, Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Church, and all of the others—regardless of the caption they have adopted to function under.

To which of the above churches is Jesus aligned? Which of the above churches did Jesus found? Did He establish and authenticate all of them? If yes, what was the purpose, then, of the apostle Paul’s question to the Corinthian believers, as per 1 Corinthians 1:13? He asked them, “Is Christ divided?” If Jesus authored all of our schisms, He is indeed divided! And if He is divided, why would He then pray for unity among God’s children, as recorded in John 17:6-25?

So let’s tell it like it is. If Jesus ascended to heaven without being a Baptist, and He did, and if Paul, Peter and others were taken to paradise without being aligned with any of the above factions, and they were, I, too, can enter paradise without being a Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, Mormon, Roman Catholic, Muslim, Church of Christ proponent, Jehovah’s Witness, or without being tainted with any of the other partisan colors. I think I’ll just be a “believer at large”—a Christian only. Surely that will be sufficient. God’s grace will fill in the gaps, if any need to be filled.

What does the Bible call those who unjustly, (or incorrectly) judge and divide the Church?

Have you considered the possibility that the viewpoint(s) expressed in this op are just as much a product of sectarian beliefs as those of the Baptist, Methodist, CoG, etc., denominations?

After World War II there was an increase in Existentialism. Among the opponents of that philosophy was a young Russian named Gurdjieff. His schtick was to assert people were asleep and needed to awaken to the essence of reality and one's own essence. He immigrated to the US and became somewhat popular. He eventually moved to France and established a commune outside of Paris. One story reports a young American had been staying at the commune when early one morning he spied Gurdjieff also walking in the garden. He hurried over to Gurdjieff and announced, "Master, Master, I have great news! I have given up smoking!"

Gurdjieff said, "That is excellent." He then reached into his shirt pocket and took out a pack of cigarettes and offered the man a cigarette. "Here. Have a cigarette."

"No. I am serious. I have given up smoking."

Gurdjieff replied, "Yes, I heard you the first time," and he took out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth and lit it it. He took a draw and then shook another cigarette halfway out of the pack, again offering it to the American. Somewhat confused, the American again reiterated his conviction, stating, "I get it. You're just testing me to see in my resolve is true. It is. I will not smoke ever again!" To which Gurdjieff once more offered the American a cigarette, saying, "No, this is not a test. Please, have a cigarette with me." Now the American was beginning to get a little angry, so the volume of his voice got louder and his delivery more adamant, "No! I am never going to smoke cigarettes again!" Gudrjieff took a long drag off his own cigarette, extended the pack once more and said,

"I am delighted you are free from the bondage of smoking. Now be free of the bondage of not smoking."

Non-denominationalism is blind to its own sectarianism and, as a consequence, separates and divides itself from the Church in many ways. Those within its ranks know no better, thinking denominationalism and/or "churchianity" the only alternative to be avoided.

And while it may be wise to remove the apostate church entirely and start over..............
Do you realize that phrase, "apostate church" is an oxymoron. Such a thing does not exist. The phrase is an invention of men, and it is used to divide the body of Christ (the Church). It is not possible to literally be called out of the world into God's sacred service (the meaning of the word "ecclesia," or "church") and be apostate (the word means renouncing or abandoning religious belief). Those who teach this phrase are not the Church. There is only one Church and it is divided in many ways despite scripture's exhortation toward unity (Eph. 4:3 and 4:13). There are good, Spirit-driven reasons for this, and there are bad, fleshly reasons for this and it is never appropriate to conflate what God has done through His Spirit with what men do in their flesh.

Let it be understood that Jesus did not die for religious parties, churches, denominations, or cults. Instead, He died for Jews, He died for Gentiles, He died “for all the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one” (John 11:52). That is incorrect.

To the degree the identities listed in the quote are products of sin, Jesus did, in fact and demonstrably die for those conditions. Jesus is interested in unity BUT it is the unity of an incredibly diverse set of incredibly diverse individuals that is enormous in size. This is very much evidenced in the diversity of the individuals chosen as disciples and the diversity of thought and expression in the apostles' writings that still, through God's inspiration provides homogeneity and unity. Jesus died, in part, to deliver us from fleshly factions but 1) we will not be perfect on this side of the grave, and some differences within the body of Christ exist by the work of God.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27
12
For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 14For the body is not one member, but many. 15If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 16And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20But now there are many members, but one body. 21And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, 24whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.

The challenge is to correctly discern the spiritual from the fleshly and celebrate the diversity within the whole.
