Greetings,

I am looking for suggestions for books on the Humanity of Christ.

Grace and peace to you.

Hey ElectedbyHim.
I am going to tag @Josheb @Carbon and @John Bauer to this thread since sometimes threads get lost if there is no immediate response. I have come across threads I never knew existed but had been started three or four days ago but there was a delay in anyone responding. I typically just check the latest posts board. And I know these three are well and widely read. I have not come across any books specifically and only dealing with the humanity of Christ. Many I have read deal with it along with the major theme of the book, but it taxes my memory to pinpoint which author and books do the most precise job. ;) When I ask it, it sits there going "Huh? Really?"

Clarify that.

Are books on his humanity alone being sought? Or books on his nature that include content on his humanity? Any book on Jesus by the JWs or LDS will emphasize his humanity, but at the expense of his deity. Bruce Ware has several books on the Trinity and one of them is titled, "The Man Christ Jesus: Reflections on the Humanity of Christ." I haven't read that particular tome, but his "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Relationships, Roles, and Relevance" is pretty good.

As far as books on the Trinity go, Michael Reeves' "Delighting in the Trinity" is pretty good, too, but it's not really a theological exposition on the nature of the Trinity but more an application of the Trinity in our lives. I read it this past summer and this Christian of 40+ years found it enlightening, encouraging, and motivating. If you're looking specifically for a theological dive into the Trinity, then Robert Letham's "The Holy Trinity," and James White's "Forgotten Trinity" are recommended.

I have as well.

Yeah, I have not seen anything specifically targeting His humanity besides Christology books.

Thank you.

I am aware of that and it is a hard pass.

I will be looking at these thank you.

Thank you.

Could you be a bit more specific?
On His humanity, how He dealt with human emotions, confrontation, complete human nature—body, soul, mind, and will.

I know what the Scriptures teach, but was wondering if there were any resources that expounded on the His humanness as it relates to us, to be more Christlike. Indeed, the Holy Spirit was also active in this.

I can only assume His Deity influenced His humanness at birth.

Not certain any resources are out there or not.

I have been reading a book about emotions and looking to Christ to see how He dealt with different situations.

Benjamin B. Warfield, The Emotional Life of Our Lord, foreword by Sinclair B. Ferguson (Crossway, 2022).

Amazon.com: “In the search to understand the deity of Christ, Christians might overlook what the Bible reveals about his humanity. Did Jesus really feel emotions? What grieved him? What delighted him? How did Jesus―fully human and fully God―react to the world and people around him? Throughout Scripture, Jesus displays a range of emotions that can help believers understand him more intimately.

“In The Emotional Life of Our Lord, theologian B. B. Warfield explains how Christ’s complex emotions and personality proved his humanity. It was necessary for Christ to be born in the likeness of mankind to bear their griefs, carry their sorrows, take their infirmities, and ultimately redeem their lives. In this encouraging book, readers learn to see Christ as a compassionate Savior through his sinless expressions of emotions―from righteous anger to abiding love.

“Part of the Crossway Short Classics Series.”

Excellent, I will be purchasing this book.

Thank you.

Books on His humanity alone.
I am unaware of any such book within mainstream, orthodox Christianity BUT that would make an excellent topic for discuss here in the forum . Post your comments and questions in a new op and I'll weigh in. I'm confident others will, too. 😍

Definitely thinking about this.

This subject of His humanness has gripped me very deep and I am not certain why, yet.
