Has God appointed any men to wrath?

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Thess 5:9

8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 1 Peter 2:8

So, according to scripture then, are these men ordained to condemnation by His wrath

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4.

Has God appointed any men to wrath?
Yes, because all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, and because the wages of sin is death, all men were once "appointed" to wrath, but it is from this group of all humanity that is sinful that God has chosen to save some by grace.

Great verses that should be read in their inherent contexts. For example, the "us" is the saints, not the non-saint. In order to grasp the whole of what God has done with His wrath the whole of scripture must be consulted because there are occasions when the New Testament describes the saints and/or God's covenant people as subject to His wrath. Ephesians 2:3, for example...

Ephesians 2:3
Among them we too all previously lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the rest.

The Greek transliteration literally states, "we were children by nature of wrath as even the rest." Just as the "us" in 1 Thes. 5:9 is the saints, so too is the "we". Paul says the saints were once by nature children of wrath. Sin brings wrath. There are multiple verses describing how God gave humanity over to its lusts, brought forth each person in iniquity, and design a world in which death would come to all men. Hebrews 9 tells us every individual will face judgment and the scriptures make it clear that no one can stand before God and live apart from Christ. The clay from which God makes some for honorable purpose is a clay in which corruption already exists.

The larger passage of Epheisans 2 reads,

Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

Sin brings wrath :(. Christ brings salvation  and eternal life 😇.

Excellent!

God has appointed some to His Wrath, whilst others have been appointed by Him through grace to obtain salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ Who died exclusively by Divine appointment for them.

1 Thess 5:9

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

All are appointed by God either to His eternal Wrath, or to obtain salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ through His death

Who is the "us"?

I would offer.

The us are the us that remained with us. The household of faith (invisible things)

1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us

Has God appointed any men to wrath?
Yes
John 12:40 “He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their heart and being converted; otherwise, I [their God] would heal them.”

John 12:37 Even though He had done so many signs (attesting miracles) right before them, yet they still did not believe and failed to trust Him— 38 This was to fulfill what Isaiah the prophet said: “Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown (unveiled, revealed)?” 39 Therefore they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their heart and being converted; otherwise, I [their God] would heal them.”

Interesting how God uses the mundane and even seemingly artificial means of accomplishing his work. Here we infer that 'natural' principle that all are condemned, but those he saves; yet here we see directly that he will not save some (by way of their turning toward him) by his intended actions toward them. This the Arminian and worse will use to attempt to prove that God has not determined before creating them, whom he will save. But they are wrong —this only shows HOW he accomplishes what he has planned. Not by supposed making a better creature, but by putting himself in those unworthies.

Who is the "us"?
The elect whom he identified in the first chapter 1 Thess 1 4-5

4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

5 For our gospel came not unto you[the elect] in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

God's chosen, the elect
The elect get raptured from the wratn...

Rev 3:10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11I am coming soon....

1 Thes 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
