Has American democracy already failed?

More than a third of Americans believe that the election of Mr. Biden in 2020 was fraudulent.

Agents of the Biden whitehouse are currently attempting to prosecute and imprison his primary political opponent, Mr. Trump. Again.

The Biden whitehouse has refused secret-service protection to another political opponent, Mr. Kennedy, despite the fact that his family in particular has a history of being assassinated, and the fact that this sort of protection is both typical and precedented.

These facts are all things I would not be surprised to read in connection with a third-world dictatorship, but in America?

So... has American democracy already failed? Are we all just participating in a puppet show while the results of the "election" are pre-determined?

And more than a third believe that Trump was lying about the "massive fraud" in the election, a conclusion that seems to be strongly supported by a large number of investigations and court cases.

Being a centrist myself, I want the Republicans to dump Trump and get a real conservative nominated to counter the liberals. It should be pretty easy to beat Biden this time around. Don't force me to vote for Biden over Trump again.

As for Democracy failing, no, Trump was properly elected in 2016, and Biden was properly elected in 2020. I'm hoping Trump's groupies don't mess things up in 2024.

I'm not a Trump fan either. I voted for the Libertarian candidate last election, and that was just because it allowed me to not check the box for Trump OR Biden.

So, can I take that as a vote of confidence in American democracy?

Yes.

Of course, it's quite possible for a state legislature to throw out the public vote and simply select presidential electors on its own. The US Constitution allows state legislatures to pick electors any way they want. But that's only if there isn't some pre-existing clause in the state constitution that requires picking electors by popular vote. We've had cases lately where state legislatures in certain swing states have been exploring the possibility of bypassing their state constitutions to pick electors, but the US Supreme Court isn't going along with that.

With the checks and balances in place, neither Democrats nor Republicans are going to get away with any large-scale election shenanigans.

I think it's higher than that. I would say more than half.

For the most part elections are predetermined...I'm not really talking school board level.

Trump upset the applecart and Hillary couldn't fulfill Obamas 3rd term. Then Biden's cabal rigged the eletion and Biden was installed...proving a dementia patient can live in the white house and Obama can continue with his satanic liberty stripping agendas...which shows some of the ways but not all...Has American democracy already failed?

I want that to be true, but I don't really believe it.

The real shenanigans happen before the election. Look at the Romney vs. Obama election... they're virtually the same candidate. The Obamacare legislation was based on a prior piece of legislation known as Romneycare. The ACA healthcare reform was going through either way.

Hi Jarrod,

Yes, It has failed because half the people in the US evidently want socialism and they vote.

What happened in 2020 was a clear case of under 50% or close to it voted and the powers that can saw to it thoe people... won.

I personally can tell you that my neighbor checked with the election office to see if her mothers vote was entered because the neighbor has no computer to check on line or get a notice it was received.

She was assured it had been.

PROBLEM.... Her mother was dead. A long time ago.

For myself. My mom has trouble seeing, so she always has me help her in the voting booth/table.

2020 I was not allowed anywhere near her.... My machine was a good 6 or 8 feet away from her while they saw to it
that a complete stranger marked her ballot the way mom said. She, of course had no clue what was marked.

I argued I always have... and they said I might try to influence her.... and I said in a loud enough voice that every one
in the line laughed... But we talk politics every day around the dining table..... we both know how the other thinks
and wants. It did not work

So now we have to do the mail voting, at least for her....

But get thios. If you want to be certain they receive it you have to bring your ballot to
the county elections office, in person.

YOU ARE NOT permitted to bring more then your own.....

But you can mail it... or multiples....

Sigh....

Democracy in action!!!

The sad part is we allowed it to happen again in 2022.....and are on track to allowing it to happen again in 2024. (if there will be elections)

There will definitely be elections. Every dictator on earth holds elections to legitimize their claims to power.

I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how. -Joseph Stalin

There is always Martial law...put into place due to a false flag incident.

The cabal will do anything and everything to prevent Trump from being elected.

It's not democracy that is causing the failing, but the failure to use it that is causing the failing.

Um, yes, Democracy doesn't cause the failing, not sure why you would bring that up.

It seems to me that even Trump supporters would notice that a majority of people don't care for Trump, so it should be no surprise that he can lose an election. The only thing that gives him a chance is that Biden's popularity is also quite low. If the parties could just nominate people that aren't actively disliked by most people, our elections would go a bit smoother.

Agreed. I don't think 10 people in 2020 voted FOR Biden because they liked him. Everyone either voted FOR Trump or AGAINST Trump.

Honestly, if the Democrats would nominate almost anyone not named Biden, Pelosi or Newsome, that candidate would win overwhelmingly.

That's what Kamala is hoping for.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this comment.
Donald Trump would sure like you to pick one or the other, doesn't matter which.

Both seem to be appropriate, the greater his persecution, the higher his favor.

Me too.

American democracy continues to date - even when some want to change the country in to their own image.
