Well, I am back from my trip to Miami, FL, for 3 weeks. Need to catch up on the articles. Had a blessed time with family and ministry.
Torah / Bible study: Genesis 1:1-6:8
GEN 1:1: "In the Beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth" "B'reisheet Bara Elohim ET HaShamayim v'Et HaAretz"
This is the first verse, in English and in Hebrew. What is going on here? What is the "beginning? The beginning of what? We look at God (Elohim), who is from eternity past, the present, and eternity future. He "Speaks" the whole creation process into being. He steps out of eternity past (infinity) and creates a parallel dimension called "time." (finitity) So, it seems to be the beginning of time itself.
If we count the original Hebrew words, we see 7 words. 7 is considered to be the perfect number. In Hebraic symbolism, these 7 words can symbolize 7 thousand years of Earth's history. The word "ET" (not the alien from the movie who called home) has no translation, yet it is equivalent to the Greek letters "Alpha and Omega" (The Beginning and the End), which remind us that God is with us from the beginning until the end of days, and will be with us in eternity future.
The word "Bara" is the Hebrew word for "create out of nothingness, yet for a specific purpose." It is to simply "speak" into existence. And so HE did, and called all of creation "Good" (Tov). There was "light and darkness", both the physical and spiritual manifestations. There is a "light" we can see, and "darkness" we can see. Both are good, yet there is a "spiritual light and spiritual darkness". Spiritual darkness is the absence of the Light of Yeshua/Jesus and His WORD. Then we come to man.
(Adam) was not "created" but "Made' (Asah) out of the dust of the Earth (Adamah). So, we could say that "Man" is the "dust or earth" formed and shaped into a human being with the spirit of life. Man was made in the "solid shadow" of the invisible God (YHVH).
Man was made and placed in the Garden of Eden. The woman joined him. Both were made in the image "Tzelem" (shadow) of God. They were perfect and sinless. Their holiness was complete and lacking nothing. One idea is that they were covered by the Shekinah glory of God. When they sinned, that Shekinah glory was lifted, leaving them "naked".
The Earth was a "House" for mankind, the animal kingdom, and the plant kingdom. The first letter in the Hebrew Bible is "B"; the letter "B" symbolizes a "house." Now this perfect house is tainted. Everything is going from "perfection" to "imperfection", from "order to disorder" (The second law of thermodynamics).
Cain and Abel, the first children of Adam and Eve, were born in the "tainted image of Adam " with the sin nature. As we know, Cain committed the first murder. God made the first sacrifice, some clean animal or animals, to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve. We see the 2 directions of the world. Either holiness or sinfulness. Following God or following Satan. Abel was righteous, yet Cain was unrighteous. Given the opportunity to repent, he instead rebelled and "left out of the presence of God," a very sad choice. Yet this shows the world today, we can embrace Yeshua/Jesus and receive "salvation" (Yeshuah) or choose the world and the things of the world, and die in one's sins. Nothing has changed since the "beginning."
Then we come to Noah, who was considered "righteous" in a very corrupt and evil pre-flood world. The other righteous man was "Enoch," who loved God so much that God simply "Took him." Chapter 6 describes the evil condition of the world. Verse 4 says in most translations,"
"and there were giants in the earth in those days, and after that, when the sons of God went into the daughters of man..." In the Hebrew Bible, the word is "Nephilim" (giants). Yet the word "nephillim" comes from the word "fall, or fallen," not giants. So, were there giants back then? The answer is YES. One theory is that when the fallen angels (sons of God) (nephillim) went into women sexually, the offspring had mutated DNA, which produced babies that became the giants. Like I said, it is a theory, or "hypothesis" (educated guess through evidence).
Next time, we will get into the topic of the Genesis flood. One positive message we can receive is that Jesus/Yeshua was the fulfilled prophecy of the "serpent's head being crushed" (by the seed of the woman). Yeshua crushed the head of Satan, crushing the curse of sin and death, to all who come in repentance and receive Yeshua as LORD and Savior. The price has been paid, the gift is for the taking, yet many prefer the lost and dying world. Many are going the "Way of Cain," Enjoying the world now, yet perishing for eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Yeshua is the better choice. Our existence on planet Earth might be brief, maybe 70 or 80 years, more or less, yet eternity is ahead. 70 or 80 years will seem like one single grain of sand on all the beaches of the world. Choose Jesus/Yeshua, and live forever in Glory!
...and there were giants in the world in those days....
WOW, even in Key Largo, FL?
