I believe the word translated in the Bible as love is mistranslated. While the Greeks have 5 words for different kinds of love, I believe agape is better translated compassion. I can easily aspire to a moral code that teach universal compassion for all people.
Love on the other hand is different. Everyone loves only one thing; virtue. Love is highly conditional. This is true in a mate, friend, neighbor, boss, leader, etc. Therefore, I hold nothing is more at odds with reality than the teaching of "unconditional love." Thoughts?
