Charley Kirk was a Sabbath Keeper.

Are you saying that I have to worship on Saturday or I can't learn how to live in step with God? If I don't worship on a Saturday I have no vertical anchor with God? If I don't worship on a Saturday...and choose Sunday....or perhaps a Wednesday...I can't have a right relationship with our creator?

What are you saying Hobie?
The standard is the Law of God, all will be judge before the judgement seat, and if we reject the truth with full understanding of what He gives us, how will Christ judge. In the time of ignorance, God winks, but if we know, and turn away, then what.....

Seventh Day Adventists don't sound too happy about Charlie Kirk's beliefs on the sabbath. (Emphases added.)

Charlie Kirk’s Final Message to America: “If I have to work on Saturday, I take Sunday as my Sabbath”

… The entire Charlie Kirk phenomenon—his media presence, his influence in conservative circles, his Turning Point USA empire, and now the release of his final book—is being used to promote what is being called his “final message to America.” That message is simple and direct: if America is going to survive, we must return to a weekly Sabbath rest. Erica Kirk reinforces this agenda by testifying that the Sabbath “saved” her husband’s life and insists that it could also save the nation.

The problem, however, is that the Sabbath they advocate is generic, meaning the day can refer to Saturday or Sunday, depending on personal preferences. In their public statements and in Charlie’s book, they openly discuss “adjusting” the Sabbath and even alternating between rest days. This is not accidental because it makes the concept of a national Sabbath acceptable to a wider audience, regardless of denomination lines or doctrinal beliefs.

But this is precisely where the danger lies. Once the Sabbath is detached from God’s commandment and turned into an adjustable practice, it becomes much easier to introduce a counterfeit day of worship in place of the true.
And in the context of America’s religious and political climate—where Christian nationalism is rapidly advancing Sunday as a unifying day of rest—the publicity surrounding Charlie Kirk’s book will certainly be used to elevate the counterfeit Sabbath: Sunday, the very institution that Scripture warns would become the papal mark of apostasy.

The Kirks are helping to create the political momentum needed to reintroduce a “Sabbath” to American life—but one that is not rooted in God’s law. Instead, it paves the way for the nation to embrace the long-foretold Sunday institution, fulfilling prophecy and setting the stage for the final crisis.

So, are you saying the only hope for this country is switching sunday worship to saturday?
No. According to the article that seems to be what his Turning Point USA empire, and now the release of his final book—is being used to promote what is being called his “final message to America.”

To be clear, it was someone named Andy Roman who wrote that, the author of the article that @mailmandan was quoting (which he did not make clear).

Andy Roman said:

A National Sunday Law is just not going to happen, Andy. It has been almost 200 years.

We used to pretty much have one. When I was younger you couldn't, by law, buy a car on Sundays (car salesmen lie) or buy alcohol, and many other businesses were voluntarily closed.

We have not just walked but ran from that in my lifetime. The sidewalks were rolled up except for what people saw as essential services on Sunday when I was a kid.

Charley Kirk lost his life this week and one of the things he was spreading was about the truth about the Sabbath....

"Charlie Kirk
Charlie grew up Presbyterian. Discovered the Sabbath in the Bible. Also heard a radio speaker talking about the blessings of Shabbat. They started keeping it. He loves to talk about the sabbath; he gets tired of politics. He is writing a book on the sabbath. Stop in the name of God.

Sabbath helped him immensely. Before he started keeping it, he was sleeping poorly and burning the candle at both ends. He heard Dennis Prager talk about keeping the Sabbath. He got jealous of him after hearing about God’s divine stop sign. They made a commitment to start keeping it.

The Sabbath is a prioritizing of who is in the church. Genesis 1:1 sets the tone for God’s requirements and authority. The Catholic church tried to change the Sabbath to Sunday. It is the most ignored Commandment of the Decalogue. Honoring the sabbath helps you keep the other 9.

Dr. James Marcum shares the Sabbath with patients who are faced with health crisis. People use dopamine to make up for a lack of Bible truth in their lives. True worship activates a healthy part of the brain, that includes the Sabbath.

Charlie turns off his phone Friday night till sabbath night. Turns it off, his family uses electric on Sabbath. No news on Sabbath. If I can turn my phone off you can too. Charlie has 1500 employees. They know not to try calling him on the Sabbath. He turns his phone off. One time the President tried calling him on Sabbath. Charlie did not answer it. This day is for the Creator God and his Saviour.

Sabbath keeps you distinct from other people. Sometimes other Christians give you a hard time for keeping it. If I walk into your house on Sabbath, can I tell something different is happening? All family, all Jesus.

Ivan asked “How do you connect Jesus to Sabbath?”

Charlie: There is some sloppy teaching that Jesus broke the Sabbath. Two miracles, creation and resurrection affirm the Sabbath.

There are two types of people.

We are an unhappy accident.

Or creation. We are a miracle. By honoring the sabbath we are pushing back against dark nihilism in our world.

Never worship creation. Worship the creator. Romans 1.

Flesh fights the Sabbath. The enemy wants to prioritize materialism over the Creator. "Will You Be Made Whole? - Friday — Fulcrum7

Did you know that Charlie Kirk kept the Sabbath? - Church of God News

I'm neither Kosier nor do I keep the Sabbath as a day of rest with even means prepared in advance and travel restrictions. I have the Spirit of Christ in me and Jesus loves me as I am. Charlies judgement in regard to those in the faith not keeping the sabbath as a day of rest is mistaken. We serve God in the new way of the spirit not the old way of the written code. A righteousness that is credited to us by faith. If someone wants to set aside a day that is Holy to the Lord they are free to do so but they are not free to judge others who differ in that or even differ in which day is set aside.

Absolutely.

Places that sold food were allowed to be opened but none others were.

All state liquor stores were closed... You cold only but there.

I believe restaurants did not serve alcohol either?

Cannot remember about sporting events back then.

It was a different time that is for sure...

I do remember being much surprised when vacationing that places at the shore and other vacation destination
did have their businesses open...

Sabbath keeping is futile because...

James 2:10 KJV
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
