“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” (Eph 2:8 NKJV)
Why do we receive grace?
In Ephesians 2:8 the word "for" is Key in that text and the surrounding passage. Notice the context. Turn to chapter 2 in Ephesians. It says, "Even when we were dead in our sins have He quicken us together with Christ." This is the saving that 2:8 speaks. This is our salvation. We are saved, setting together in heavenly places in Christ. For this is the grace, the Gift from God. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works WHICH God had preordained THAT we should walk in that which is of God. Being quickened together with Christ sitting together in heavenly places in Christ we are Therefore, One Body and Spirit. And there is One hope of this calling of us. In that there is One God and Father of all who is above all and in us all chapter 4 states. For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. Giving of Himself, giving gifts unto men. And this hopeful calling is For the perfecting of us, the saints. Unto the measure and stature and the fullness of Christ.
Henceforth not tossed to fro by every wind of doctrine and sleight of man. Being Taught by HIM and thereby Putting off the behavior of the old man which is corrupt due to deceitful lust and putting on the new which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. The good works that God had preordained that we should walk in. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them chapter 5 says.

Your point?
For some reason, I am having a hard time following and seeing your point. Sorry.

Why do we receive grace?
Is this the main question?

I can say one thing according to scripture. It's not because we earned it.

Why do we receive grace?
It is the only way anyone can be saved.

If the question is "Why is anyone saved?" then your emphasis of the "for" and what follows would be what we are saved unto. All of which is, of course, true.

The eschatological reason we receive grace is found in many places in Scripture, but here is one place. (Eph 1:7-10)

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Through this grace that redeems mankind in Christ, the entire creation, the home God made for mankind, is being redeemed from the effects of our fall. You might say, He is cleansing us and he is cleansing our abode.

By grace I am saved, quickened, raised together with Christ in His resurrection from the dead and created in Christ Jesus unto good works that God had preordained that I should walk in. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us the ungodly. That the righteousness of God be revealed in us that walk after His Spirit and not after the flesh. For if we walk after the flesh we will die. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
