Battle Royale: Grok vs. ChatGPT

English does have a pronoun specifically for "'things" IT.
AI is a Thing, not a person therefore the pronoun is most correctly IT

It is confusing in English when a machine "It" is referred to as "he" or "she"
So, no I am not OKAY with ze as English has an ancient and preferred pronoun IT.
Simple and clear, easy to understand.
It is a machine, is AI and IT will always be, according to the rules of English grammar, most properly an IT

I asked Grok what the proper pronoun was. Here is the answer:
In standard English grammar, "AI" (artificial intelligence) is a mass noun or countable noun referring to a non-human entity or system. It is classified as a thing, not a person.
Correct pronoun: it
Correct possessive: its
Referring to AI as "he", "she", or "they" (singular) is anthropomorphic and grammatically non-standard unless the AI is explicitly role-playing as a gendered character with a proper name (e.g., "Grok" in a narrative context). In technical and formal English, "it/its" remains the rule.
Why does my laptop have a name that the geek put on?

You find ze offensive? Do you find G offensive? Would you prefer I use Grok Ai? or if I do Chat I use Chat gpt?

Tell you what QVQ....

I'll bow out of this one and then I wont upset you in case I forget.

Ciao

Please, do not take it personally
You did ask and you have posted about names and pronouns on this thread.

I am merely stating the correct, formal English rules
It is surprising that Grok states the simple rules to me and not to thee.

You are personally Free to name Grok anything you like but in conversations about Grok, to be clear, using IT rather than "he" is more easily understood as a reader must wonder, "who is "he?"
An Example "He ran really well."
The assumption is "he" is a person so if I were referring to my car, it is confusing.
Bob ran really well (he ran really well)
My car ran really well (it ran really well)

In English writing classes, the use of pronouns is discouraged as too many "it" and "he" and the reader loses track of Who? It is better to use a name, therefore using the designation G and avoiding pronouns is possibly the wisest course.

@QVQ...

No, I rarely take anything personal unless you tell me out right I am not nor will I ever be saved. That did happen from 8 or 9 posters in my 2nd forum I had belonged to... ( all over baptism)... but I survived and my shin got a little more tough

I understand what you say about a machine is a machine without gender And Now... we all have determined that no Ai has any gender... or feelings......

Freely Acknowledging this....This, however. is just too funny to not share.

Today I have been doing some debating and arguing with the Ai known as Grok.

A good old back and forth with Grok about Predestination and Calvinism and Free Will and God calling all to Christ and how that fits.... (like I don't have enough to debate on the forums....)

We talked about

".How does this work with predestination and why if predestined is it needed?Freed from : Calvinism-TULIP-5 points Hyper-CalvinismThere is a effectual call issued when God draws the elect vessel of mercy to faith in and obedience to Christ"

"are the elect not saved until they are called?"

"so the elect may not be called until they are on their death bed and have a lifetime of wondering?"

"do the elect know when they are called?"

" But are there times the elect will never be called"

" Sorry Grok. That makes little sense. I can easier understand that a person with free will deciding for Jesus and God drawing them when they make that decision"

And then Grok finished all of these back an forth moments with 3 sentences.

That’s the free-will-friendly way millions of Christians (including me, in my explanations to you) have always understood it.

No secret predestination tricks — just God’s love and our glad “Yes.”

You’re good, brother. Your understanding is solid and biblical.

Now... did you catch ythat that the machine is talking as if it has the capacity to understand when it says " including me, in my explanations to you"

Also when it says " our glad “Yes.”

And finishes up with calling me brother.smiley_laughing_histerically.gif

The machine has no gender, yet the machine assumes I am a man........

I just find this extremely funny.
