We (my wife, 13-year-old daughter, and I) mix both adventures. It is a blast!

The PVC pipe is made to the trailer to protect and support the load, I suppose. (At first I thought, "but the homemade pontoons are open on the end —are they just meant for stability, like a keel?)

I used to fish in South Carolina a lot, carried a canoe because it was easy to move from one pond to another in the "diggins'" that I fished for largemouth. Had to use 15 lb test or better with my diving lures because they sometimes would snag an alligator who could tow my canoe about.

One pond had an alligator I'm thinking was world-record class. My guess would be 18 ft or better. I never saw him move, even when I skipped a rock across his back. I would see him, then I wouldn't, without a ripple. Could have fit an axe handle between his nostrils and his eyes.

I still deer hunt every year, though I've moved to colder climes. I do miss hunting in South Carolina. Love the long seasons.

Man! I shouldn't have started on this. I could talk about hunting and fishing for hours...

Yes, they are to support the load of the kayaks. I built the rack out of rectangular steel and then sprayed it with spray-on bedliner. It bolts to the landscape trailer, and has vertical pipe legs under it where wheels fit in them to roll it off.

That sounds exciting. There are usually some nice fat bass in ponds.

Nice that’s one thing I’ve always wanted to do is catch stripers on a kayak in the river near my house or sea bass and halibut in Monterey Bay or Santa Cruz

I used to love to deer hunt, squirrel hunt, fish, but I haven't done any of those in years. I also used to love to play 🏌️‍♀️⛳ but never broke 100.
I golf ⛳️ every Sunday afternoon with my brother. I use t break 80 often 15 years ago now I’m lucky to break 90. But I’m having more fun now and not as serious as I once was. And do not fish as much as I would like .

Just saw this. That would be a blast. Lot's of guys do deep sea fishing on yaks. Youtube Robert Field and you can watch some amazing adventures of him and others making huge catches in yaks.

I still might get a kayak, maybe a good quality inflatable if there is any such thing lol. Then I could take it everywhere and not be so cumbersome. I would love to fish Monterey Bay for Sea Bass and Halibut that are only a few 100 yards off the beach and we have big stripers in the Stanislaus river right near my house within a mile or 2.

If you want a nice quality ocean ready kayak, take a look at https://lightningkayaks.com/

You'll get a high quality yak for a good price. Robert Field now endorses them, and he used to use a Hobie.
