In Revelation 17 John is taken by the Spirit into the wilderness which is better translated "the desert," to be shown the judgment of the great whore (Islam). The Desert is where Mecca and Medina reside.

Many interpreters speculate this woman is Rome but Rome doesn't reside in the desert. Islam has also been called "the desert religion."

The birthplace of Babylon the Great and the Whore of Babylon is in the desert of Arabia a place called Mecca and Medina, called the Glory of Kedar in the OT.

2. Evidence against Rome...

The city of seven hills...

The correct understanding is

City of seven MOUNTAINS...

Rome IS NOT a city of seven 'mountains.'

Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Some translations use the word HILL. The text is the word 'oros' and its meaning is better translated 'mountain' NOT HILL. Rome does not sit on seven mountains! It doesn't even sit on seven hills! There are seven hills on the East side of the Tiber River. 'Vatican Hill' sits on the west side of the Tiber. THAT MAKES 8 HILLS TOTAL! AND! The word 'hills' is an incorrect translation. OROS IS A MOUNTAIN NOT HILL! The 7 hills on the east side of the Tiber, are too small to be designated as 'mountains'. Strong's specifically states that a hill is lower than a mountain. Rome's seven hills are so small, typically between 200 to 500 feet, and appear as 'little nubs' when viewed from a distance.

The city of seven mountains is Jerusalem.

"Babylon must sit on or occupy seven mountains, and I believe those mountains are the seven mountains that surround Jerusalem."

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore, the psalmist writes. (Psalm 125:2)

These mountains are Mount Zion (southwest, 2558 ft.),
Mount Gareb (west, 2518 ft.), Mount Scopus (north,
2724 ft.) Mount of Olives (east, 2641 ft.
Mount of Offense (southeast, 2411 ft.)
Mount of Evil Counsel
(south, 2548 ft.) and at the center,
Mount Moriah (the temple mount, 2556 ft.)

Jerusalem is the only city on planet earth that God has personally deemed as His own, and upon it there now stands an abomination called, "The Dome of the Rock."

3. Evidence against Rome...

BABYLON THE GREAT

Babylon can only be associated with a few things. Confusion, Literal Babylon, and false religion. Babylon is NOT ROME!
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

The woman and the beast.

The woman is Islam and its terror network of jihadist. The beast is a coming 10/7 alliance of nations dominated by the religion of Islam, who gave birth to the ideology of receiving up to 70 virgins in paradise for committing the abominations of the earth. What more could a harlot do for its fanatical adherents than to offer them a mansion with as many as 72 bedrooms with a virgin in each one for committing the abominations of the earth. The number of virgins they get is dependent upon the magnitude of the abomination they commit.

The words "sit upon" mean to occupy or have a fixed abode. This means that the Islamic harlot, i.e. Babylon the Great - aka Islam is the religion of the coming 10/7 Mid-East Islamic alliance of nations called a Caliphate.

The anti-Christ is NOT a global dictator. He unites the Mid-East Arab Islamic world and comes against Israel. A global dictator is mentioned in Daniel, bt he is NOT the anti-Christ,

Evidence against Rome...
Blasphemy

The prophecy experts would like you to believe that this harlot is the so called apostate church, and a\~unification of the world's religions. AND the beast is a global dictator and one world government.

Islam is the most blasphemous and anti-Christ religion on earth.

Around the octagonal structure of the Dome of the Rock is a long classical Arabic inscription that says that God has no begotten son, thus denying that Jesus is the Son of God.

Inscriptions on the octagonal structure of the Dome are anti-Christ. They say...

  • There is no God but Allah.
  • God has no son; He begetteth not.
  • God taketh not unto Himself a son.
  • God has no associate.
  • Muhammad is the messenger of God.
  • Allah will preside on Judgment Day.
A more accurate interpretation of verse 5 is....
ISLAM, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF JIHADIST AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

This is how it look in the interlinear...

AND KINGS SEVEN ARE THE FIVE FALL AND THE ONE IS THE other NOT- as- yet CAME AND when-EVER he-MAY-B
E-COMING FEW (briefly) him it-IS BINDING TO-REMAIN...

The kingdoms of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece had fallen by John's time. Using them in a vision depicting an end-time kingdom makes no sense. For John to have a vision that prophesy's about of an end-time beast, only to have some of the elements of the beast be several thousands of years old, actually makes him a false prophet since a prophet cannot prophesy about kings (kingdoms not explicitly implied) that have already passed. The words ARE and FALL (not fallen or have fallen) indicates they are all end-time KINGS!

Rendering this verse like many translations do saying "five have fallen" is completely incorrect. The passage is actually telling us that this end time beast/kingdom will emerge when we see five Mid-East kings fall, and ONE to come afterwards.

The kings mentioned here are all end-time people. Read the passage carefully...
"And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received NO KINGDOM AS OF YET;

...but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. How can these be past ANCIENT kingdoms when, "have received no kingdom as yet," how can they, "receive power as kings one hour with the beast," and how can they, "have one mind," and how can they, "shall give their power and strength unto the beast," AND HOW CAN THEY, "shall make war with the Lamb," ...IF SIX OF THEM EXISTED THOUSANDS OF YEARS IN THE PAST! What a crazy interpretation todays prophecy experts have come up with that has misled millions of Christians.

The 7 headed ten horned beast of Rev. 17, and the 7 headed ten horned dragon of Rev. 12 ARE BOTH SAID TO BE SCARLET. This indicates to me that the Revelation 17 beast is a product of Satan of the dragon. One meaning of the word for Lucifer is, "the king of Babylon," and the Assyrian anti-Christ is also said to be the king of Babylon. Coincidence? A more accurate interpretation of verse 5 is....

BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF JIHADIST AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

The big question is, "what would cause an end-time king of the north and south to come to power."

Answer...the apostasy which is soon/now taking place in the Arab Islamic Middle-East!

And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth. Islam, aka "Babylon the Great," gave birth to jihadism. There's more war coming but the ones who will bring tribulation to all parts of the earth. Tribulation has pretty much been a common thing in the Arab Middle East lately and elsewhere lately.

We know some of the evil devices these jihadist are capable of. Like beheading Children in front of their parents. The word 'filthiness' is only used ONCE, right here in the NT and I believe it describes biological and nuclear terrorism. I know that Islam is the only religion capable of fulfilling the evils mentioned in bible prophecy. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and of her fornication:

President Kennedy said that terrorism would one day make war obsolete. He was right. A terrorist can infiltrate places where an army can't. They don't come by infantry or brigade and they don't have tanks or dress like soldiers. They are the foreign fighters mentioned in Habakkuk 1.Islam has been a murderous religion since it's inception. It has murdered more Christians and more people by far than any other religion in history. Some estimates are as high as 250-270 million people since Islam began. 'Islam' has been the world's, Israel's, and Christianity's enemy since it's birth. Muhammad and his successors use to go around in their caravans converting people by entering into walled cities. If people wouldn't convert they would cut your head off and pile them up at the city gate so that people entering in could see the results of not converting. Outside the city gate of Baghdad there were 80,000-90,000 skulls. That's how Islam began and they have never stopped converting by the sword.

This is the mark of the Islamic beast...

The abomination of desolation was murdering God's unique Son on the Cross in approximately 33 AD. When the veil rent the Holy Spirit departed the Temple.

That was he abomination that made desolate.

What is built on rubble 600+ years after the fact is neither here no there, just a reminder that the Temple of the living God is now in a house made without human hands.

Until Christ's return, evil will be evil as even more that abomination also foreshadows final judgment, tied to the antichrist spirit that continues until the end (cf. 1 John 2:18).

I'm surprised you don't like Islam, you share their beliefs about the Christ.

Revelation 17:4 of idol-worship and its impurities; ποιεῖν βδέλυγμα κ. ψεῦδος, Revelation 21:27.

So tell me - what was the extent of the desolation. The cross saves big guy.

You look at this like it's the crucifixion. Huh, and all along most people believe it's a setting up an idolatrous image or abomination in the holy place. Again, what's the extent of the desolation?"

I can give you a few hints...

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

That goes to show the board how much you know about Islam which is absolutely nothing.

Go back to school.

Clearly you don't know me at all, but I do figure I know enough to speak on the topic with some clarity.

You have denied the divinity of the Christ all over this forum going so far as to call the belief itself demonic and guess what? So does Islam! It's fairly simple really. Doesn't take a rocket scientist. You share their views about Christ, so I found it surprising that you speak against them.

It begins with an inability to recognize Christ in truth, which eventually leads to making war upon the saints amongst a myriad of other sins and blasphemies.

Your view of the abomination of desolation as the Dome of the Rock and Babylon as a literal Islamic caliphate misses the deeper scriptural meaning.

The abomination of desolation is not a physical object or future event but the covenantal judgment for Israel’s rejection of Jesus Christ, the final Prophet, Priest, and King, in whom God’s redemptive plan culminates (Hebrews 1:1-2).

At Christ’s crucifixion (ca. 33 AD), the Temple veil tore (Matthew 27:51), signaling the Holy Spirit’s departure and the end of the Levitical system, as Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice fulfilled it (Hebrews 10:12-14.)

Jesus foretold this desolation, declaring Jerusalem’s house “desolate” (Matthew 23:38) and weeping over her judgment (Luke 19:41-44), fulfilled in AD 70’s destruction (Daniel 9:27). The Dome of the Rock, built over 600 years later, is irrelevant to this prophecy

Your also misinterpreting “oros” as literal geography. In Revelation, “mountains” symbolize kingdoms or powers, not Jerusalem’s hills. Similarly, Revelation 17:10’s “five have fallen” refers to past kingdoms (e.g., Egypt, Babylon), not future “end-time kings.” Revelation’s Babylon is spiritual, symbolizing false religion (Revelation 17:5), including Islam’s denial of Christ’s Divinity (1 John 2:22-23), but not a geopolitical caliphate.

Revelation unveils Christ, the Lamb Slain (Revelation 5:6), not Islam’s rise. The New Testament shifts from earthly shadows to spiritual substance (Colossians 2:17), with Christ’s kingdom “not of this world” (John 18:36).

We live in the age of the New Covenant, but also bearing the abomination’s consequences, with hope in the crucified and risen Lord, not geopolitical speculation.

It is to us to uphold the Divinity of Christ, because that which opposes Him in truth is antichrist, whether it be said from Rome or Mecca or even a single person the United States, it's false religion and anti-christ.

'Abomination of desolation' literally mean 'disgusting devastation'. WOW! And you're telling me that's the cross - the crucifixion!

You've fallen for the prophetic scenarios of the high-powered, money making big shots!

The abomination takes place in the courtyard of the Temple Mount.

1. “Abomination” — שִׁקּוּץ (shiqquts)
  • Strong’s Concordance: H8251
  • Meaning: “detestable thing,” “abomination,” especially used in reference to idolatry, pagan images, or things ritually defiling.
  • Root verb: shaqats (שָׁקַץ) – “to detest, to make abominable”
  • Usage: Primarily in contexts of idolatrous worship or acts that profane God’s holiness.

2. “Desolation” — שְׁמָמָה (shamem)
  • Strong’s: H8074
  • Meaning: “devastation,” “destruction,” “astonishment,” “desolate ruin”
  • Often refers to land left ruined after judgment or war, especially covenantal judgment.

➤ Together (שִׁקּוּץ שֹׁמֵם – shiqquts shomem):
Literally, “a detestable thing that causes devastation” — especially understood as a profaning event that brings God’s covenantal wrath and abandonment.

In Daniel and the Gospels, the phrase “abomination of desolation” refers not merely to something disgusting or idolatrous, but a shocking, covenantally offensive act—one that desecrates something holy and brings about judgment or abandonment by God.

That occurred at the Cross of Christ. When the crowd turned their back in total rejection of their Messiah, their Lord and Savior, High Priest and King, which left their house desolate to them.

"For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened [...] Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity." (Romans 1:21; Romans 1:24)

I must strongly disagree with your assessment. The crucifixion of Christ was indeed the greatest abomination in human history—an act not only of injustice, but of covenantal treachery. It was the ultimate expression of man-centered religion, idolatry, and the exaltation of falsehood over divine Truth.

Israel, the very people entrusted with the covenants and promises (cf. Romans 9:4–5), rejected their Messiah and crucified the Lord of glory (cf. 1 Corinthians 2:8). This was the climactic covenantal betrayal, followed by a forty-year "wilderness" of patience before judgment fell in AD 70—the desolation of Jerusalem in fulfillment of Christ’s warning (cf. Matthew 23:38; Luke 21:20–24).

If you want to see the depths of human depravity, look no further than the Cross—where the creature murdered the Creator, and darkness tried to extinguish the Light of the world. That is the true height of man’s sin and the deepest display of God’s mercy.

May God forever be praised. Amen.

You’ve conflated the language of prophetic symbolism with modern political speculation, while missing the very heart of redemptive history. You assert that the abomination of desolation is merely a “disgusting devastation” in a courtyard—but this drastically underestimates the scope and gravity of the phrase as it’s used in Scripture.

You seem to want a material object—a statue, a building, or some geopolitical enemy—to fulfill what Christ Himself said was already unfolding in His generation (cf. Matthew 24:34). But Jesus wasn’t pointing forward to a desert religion 600 years after the fact. He was indicting that generation for rejecting Him.

In Matthew 23:37–38, He wept over Jerusalem and said, “See, your house is left to you desolate.” The temple was still standing—but it was now empty. That was the desolation. God had departed. The veil was torn. The sacrificial system was rendered obsolete by the Lamb of God Himself (cf. Hebrews 10:1–14).

And what is more “abominable” than the rejection and execution of the Son of God? He who is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature (Hebrews 1:3)? This wasn’t merely some political misstep or Roman injustice—it was the covenant people handing over their Messiah to death.

As for Revelation 17, the “seven heads” are consistently interpreted in Scripture as symbolizing either kingdoms or rulers (cf. Daniel 7, Revelation 13:1). Your insistence on a literal reading of “mountains” while denying the genre of apocalyptic symbolism is hermeneutically backwards.

Even if we entertain your interpretation—Islam as a persecuting power—that still doesn’t make it the fulfillment of Revelation 17. Babylon represents a spiritual system of rebellion—false religion, harlotry, man-centered worship. That includes Islam, yes, but also apostate Christianity, secularism, and every system that denies the Son (cf. 1 John 2:22).

The antichrist spirit isn't limited to Arabia or the Vatican. It’s global, spiritual, and ancient. It’s Cain killing Abel. It’s Babel building its tower. It’s Pharaoh hardening his heart. It’s Jerusalem crucifying the Christ. That is the trajectory Revelation is tracing to its final judgment.

You speak much of physical wars and geopolitical events, but the real war is spiritual. It is against the Lamb—and the Lamb won.

“They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.” (Revelation 17:14)

In Revelation 17 John is taken by the Spirit into the wilderness which is better translated "the desert," to be shown the judgment of the great whore (Islam). The Desert is where Mecca and Medina reside.

Hi Miss Managed, did you write this or copy it from somewhere?

You may be interested to know that the specific term for 'whore' is that of a Levitical priests unfaithful wife, so God was talking about old covenant Judaism. That's why their city is Jerusalem, where their Lord was crucified, and why the whore is 'stoned' referring to the catapult boulders Rome would launch at it. It did try to 'ride' Rome for a while, but then Rome turn on it and devoured it.

Recently she posted a % by % of the steps of Islam in taking over a country, and how much it uses victimization to gain power at the beginning. You will be reading Euro-American news, unfortunately.

Hazel, how does Miss M have the same view of Christ as Islam???

Hazel, how does Miss M have the same view of Christ as Islam???

They use the same talking points. Same Bible verses, exact same arguments.

All non trinitarians do. I can't tell the background of the non-triinitarian because of it, because all the arguments are the same.

It all sounds/feels like arguing with Muslims to me for this reason, it's just that some don't bring the Qur'an into it, but the main impetus is to deny the Trinity and convince listeners against the notion of Jesus being anything but a prophet who manages the title Messiah too.

It's like arguing with Muslims regardless of the non-triinitarian. Some of them sound so much like Muslims I can't get past it sometimes though, but it doesn't mean they are, it just means they all sound eerily similar.

It did take me a minute to realize this though, for a minute I was fairly convinced I was arguing with Muslims but did figure out it's just because all the arguments are the same.

Once you undercut the Trinity and Christ you can put anything in its place, even Islamic extremism.
