When responding to the Pharisees' request for a sign, why do you suppose the Messiah made the specific point that He would be in the "heart of the earth" for 3 days and 3 nights?

Jesus gave the Sign of Jonah, who was in the belly of the Fish for three days...

Actually, it was for three days and three nights. My question is, was there something meaningful about that specific timeframe?
That's where I thought you were going. The first Calender Day was blackened Day and Night. The Second Calender Day was Day and Night. The third Calender Day was Night and day; due to Dawn...

Your article is talking about calendar days and not daytimes and night times.
No worries I just thought it was an interesting read.

What about this then. The body starts to decay after 3 days.

Psalm 16:10
For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

Acts 13:35
So also, He says in another Psalm: 'You will not let Your Holy One see decay.'

I think that may be getting close to what might be the answer.
Its twofold- Its prophetic and was fulfilled and secondly its scientifically a fact like many other things in Scripture that are similar facts unknown until proven by modern science.

Sometimes it takes a little while to zero-in on what people want to talk about. Though Jesus was in the grave 3 Legal days, he was in the grave just over a day. This could help keep Corruption away. I was wondering; doesn't the removal of Blood also help Preserve, as in keep Corruption away?

We have to decide whether Christ's body in the Tomb was still Natural, or was already Unnatural...

Maybe it was supernatural- ;)

One issue I ponder, is that Christians say Christ's "Blood and Water" from his side; is due to his Blood starting to separate. I've always liked this; it shows Jesus was already dead...

But does it show Corruption? Did Jesus Sprinkle Blood and Water on the Mercy Seat in the Heavenly Holy of Hollies?

I need to get back to work...

Unless Jonah was deceased at some point, his experience relative to Jesus'
experience would be quite incomplete because Jesus could've just as easily referred
to 1Sam 30:12 if all he cared about was the time frame.

FAQ: Was Jonah alive in the fish?

REPLY: Yes. (Jonah 2:1)

FAQ: The whole time?

REPLY: No; at some point in his nautical adventure Jonah went to a place called
sheol (Jonah 2:2) which he located at the roots of the mountains. (Jonah 2:6)

Well; the roots of the mountains aren't located in the tummies of fish, nor are they
located under the sea, rather: they're located underground deep in the Earth. So,
the only way that Jonah could possibly be at the roots of the mountains while
simultaneously in the belly of a fish was for the man and his body to part company
and go their separate ways. This is not impossible because according to Matt 10:28
people's souls don't always die along with their body.

Also, the language of Jonah's prayer in the fish strongly indicates that he
underwent a resurrection.

"I descended to the roots of the mountains. The earth with its bars was around me
forever, But Thou hast brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God." (Jonah
2:6)

The Hebrew word for "pit" speaks of putrefaction. The very same word is located in
Ps 16:8-10, which Acts 2:25-31 verifies is speaking of a corpse.

Now; when we think about it: Jesus' remains weren't laid to rest in the heart of the
Earth; in point of fact, they were laid to rest up on the surface; and not even in the
soil, rather; above the soil in a rock-hewn tomb. So in order for Jesus to be on the
surface of the Earth and down in its heart simultaneously, he and his body had to
part company and go their separate ways to be rejoined later when it was time for
him to exit the tomb.

So you're suggesting that His specificity of 3 days and 3 nights as a sign for the Pharisees had nothing to do with that particular length of time? That there was some other reason for using it to prove His authority to them?
