I couldn't help myself from laughing inside yesterday. My wife said she heard a really good sermon yesterday by some guy. I asked who ? She proceeded to look through the history on her phone and found out it was Paul Washer and she had never heard of him. I said he is a good preacher but he is a Calvinist She had no idea so I said are you becoming a closet calvinist ? And we both chuckled. BTW he is my son in laws favorite preacher who is the pastor of ministries at our church. And one of the young seminary students I'm discipling at our church as well. So I do fellowship with Calvinists in real life, have great discussions with them, challenge each other in our walks etc........ And they are well aware of how I stand on many issues and I do not talk about them unless they bring them up or want to hear the other side of the argument when we are discussing theology. Right now we are going through the Trinity, Deity/humanity of Christ and the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. There are 4 of us who meet every Saturday morning for a couple of hours. The other man is an elder at our church who also alternates with a few others leading our mens discipleship group that meets on Thursday mornings. Its a great time on Saturday mornings of iron sharpening iron. We all have homework prepared for Saturday mornings and discuss the topic/scriptures from each others vantage point and how God used those passages to speak to each one of us about the topic of discussion that week. I like it to how each one of the gospels has their story, emphasis, focus and differences in their approach about the ministry of Jesus. Some have many in common, others differences, while others things that are unique to the story. The different vantage points so to speak. So this way we all glean insight into each others study. All that to say I like Paul Washer and learn from him too.
