Mark 8:37
Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? KJV

Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? BSB (Beren Standard Bible)

Or ya might say, (what ransom shall a man give) for his soul?

Thoughts?

"Is anything worth more than your soul?" (Mark 8:37, NLT).

I hesitate because I don't know exactly how this would work or if it should work
But I maybe, might, could think about ransoming my soul for someone I loved, to relieve their suffering
Just a thought, not certain....
But then perhaps it is still making a deal with the devil, who doesn't have the power to keep the bargain, and I would end up in a very bad place myself.
Probably better to pray for God's mercy for the loved one and the strength for myself to accept God's will

Sounds familiar: "If it were somehow possible, I could wish that I myself were damned and cut off from Christ, if that would mean salvation for my fellow Jews—my own people, my flesh and blood" (Rom 9:3, paraphrase).

Yes, it was not possible for the Apostle Paul to wish himself damned and cut off from Christ to obtain salvation for..my own people, my flesh and blood..
Because

Rom 9: 14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all for He says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. "

Thank you @John Bauer for posting the Scripture. I knew the answer was in the Bible somewhere. It always is.
