Isaiah 9
6 Unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and of peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Greetings everyone, no, it's not Christmastime yet (or even Christmas in July yet ), but I would like to hear your thoughts about the first phrase (in bold/in the title) of v7 above.
I had always assumed (even when I became a believer) that sanctification, our growth in the both the knowledge and understanding of God/His word/the Christian faith, of becoming more and more Christlike, and perhaps even our growing relationship with God, would all be over when we entered into Glory with Him in the age to come. I felt excited about it on one hand, but sad on the other, but v7 seems to indicate that I was wrong, that our growing in Him (in so many ways) and closer to Him as well, NEVER ceases.
Thoughts (what do the words in the title mean to you)?
God bless you!!
