I've been married 38 years .... first year was pretty good .... j/k ... first month was pretty good .... j/k ....

Aside: Seeing as we don't have spouses in heaven ... is a divorce proceeding the beginning of eternal bless? ...... j/k ;) or not

Similar we started dating in 76 and married in 85. Together 47 years .

Was married 39 years (I think); now a widower. I can say "(I think)" without figuring it out accurately because she can no longer tell me what I jerk I am for not being sure.

Sorry for your loss brother. I couldn't imagine what life would be like without my wife. She is the glue of our family.

Gee, you made my laugh and be saddened at the same time.
My wife is almost 8 years my junior; figured I'd have someone to push my wheel chair in future years (NOT YET ... lol)

My wife is deeply flawed as shown by her willingness to marry me; otherwise, she is nearly perfect. The bible says she not perfect, so I have to believe it.

Aside: I was married May 31, 1985. Did I beat you? Ah, 'beat you' means longer than you.

It was 7 years ago. I can't really say it was that hard for me, though it is strange how your body and brain don't always take orders, and you find yourself unable to say what you had meant to say sometimes. The words don't come out right. Reminds me of when I got lost in Miami, a third grader, full-blown panic going on and I couldn't breathe right, and my mind the whole time was saying, "What's wrong with you? C'mon! Let's go!"

Makes me think of CS Lewis' title, "A Grief Observed". When I was in panic mode, my mind was saying, "This is both strange and frustrating, yet, very interesting!"

February 15th, 85. :)

Marriage and staying that way = easy. ( God prepared me for it. ) What I discovered is that raising children is orders of magnitude more difficult.

And grandchildren are easy by comparison. :)

Beat me.

... where "beat me" assumes being married longer is a plus *giggle*
HA!!! Reminds me of a conversation with my crew: Talking about how long the various guys were married, and I told them how long I had been, but that it had been a very tough marriage. One of the guys said, "Well, you must be doing something right! Still married!" And being me, of course, before I thought through saying it out loud, I said, "Or wrong!"
