Greetings,

Just wondering if any members are running this software.

Had this for a few years now and it seems to have a rather intensive learning curve compared to the older libronix that I still use.

I also use esword wich is very user friendly.

Any thoughts on this software if you use it?

I use Logos 8 extensively and find it very useful and easy to use. It is my main Bible program. I am not sure what additional features are available in Logos 10. In my Libronix days I made extensive Notes and Logos Help gave me instructions of how to transfer these Notes from Libronix to Logos 8. One reason why I use Logos 8 is that I acquired in the early days a large number of reference books including many Bible versions from discounted CD packages and also a large number of denomination specific books and magazines. Some of these reference books would be much more expensive these days. I have e-sword, but rarely use it.

Kind regards
Trevor

I probably will have to dedicate some time to the videos they have for Logos 10.

Pretty certain you can upgrade to logos 10 for a very small price and use all your resources you have in Logos 8.

I find searching a subject or topic in Libronix easier compared to Logos 10.

Pretty certain it is user error.

I used to have it, if it is the same as I think. Huge reference base? I used it years ago to argue with my Arminianistic relatives, writing a piece on Limited Atonement. It was more fun than I had imagined it would be and I learned an awful lot about better ways to think of the things I already did. It is also where I began to read John Owen, my favorite writer.

I've lost it, since. Don't know what happened to the disks, but the computer bit the dust rather suddenly.

If it was Libronix, NEBRL or Logos (any version) you do not need the disks. Logos is downloadable (my copy of Logos 8 was free) and if you can find your previous registration on their website or with Logos Help, you can access all the books that you previously owned.

Kind regards

This was maybe 30 years ago. Dial-up. It was disks. But the more I'm hearing, the less I think it was Logos. It was very ostensibly Calvinistic or Reformed, judging by what works it had chosen to make available.

At the time I started using it, it was basically just one guy's product, though many works were available, transcribed by students to pdf format (or whatever it was). He put a picture of his family up as, I guess, appealing to the worthiness of donating to his cause. (Red-headed little boy, lol).

Maybe too long ago to retrieve. I used to visit the local religious bookstore and obtain disks with various Bibles and reference books. The disks would have the relevant Bible Program and the specific books that were included in the package. The same went for our denomination specific disks. One was mainly books and another our major long running magazine. Each disk also had the Bible Program software included. Logos also offer a free book every month and some of these are useful.

The appearance looks much the same as e-sword but much more useful to me because of the many Bibles and reference books that I have acquired and also my denomination specific books and magazines. Here is a snapshot of my home page, displaying the KJV and Strong's, with a few of the Bibles and NTSK on LHS tabs and a few other reference books on the RHS tabs. I also have extensive notes shown for Psalm 1. Access to the many other books and features is usually one click with the mouse.

Kind regards
Trevor

It sounds like you are describing the Puritan Hard Drive (from Still Waters Revival Books). I remembering wanting to get that.

Logos 10 looks just like that.

Wow, are you still on windows 7?

Greetings again ElectedbyHim,
Wow, are you still on windows 7?
Yes, both on my Laptop and my PC. The only trouble with my Laptop is that my Logos8 no longer updates the Notes and the Books from the Logos website, but the PC is functioning correctly. I am satisfied with my old computer, and it is working well, but when and if it fails I will like a computer with some SSD (if this is the correct term). Logos 10 does not work on Windows 7 and it may have some good new features, such as being able to add PDFs to the books, as I have a reasonable large library of both books and magazines.

Kind regards
Trevor

SSD is defineatley a lot faster than HDD.

Logos 8 should run on Windows 11.

I am running Libronix 3 on Windows 11.

Logos is doing a lot of subscription stuff, but you can still buy books and different libraries from older versions.

I have a lot of the Reformed libraries going back to Logos 5.

They run very well.

Thanks. It doesn't look familiar. No, not still on 7. I haven't had the software for maybe 25 years or more.

Something to look forward to. Have you activated a Startup page? Otherwise it most probably restarts where you last visited. Even these pages are available later on Layouts.

Yes I have astartup page and saved layouts.

Logos 10 actually takes snapshots when you change the layout or even start a new study.

I can go on any computer that I have with Logos 10 and the layout will be exactly the same as my main PC, they sync is really good.

Sync on mobile (phone or tablet) does not work as well. That is for Android or Iphone.

A cool feature they have on the subscription service is that you can scan the ISBN barcode on any of your physically owned books and if they have the resources it will show up in your library.

Its a neat feature, but I am not will to pay for the subscription.

There is a lot to learn in the software for things that I do not even know about.

Perhaps in my retirement years that is when I will get into all that, God willing.

Grace and peace to you.
