Hello everyone. A little intro.
I’m from NW Connecticut I was raised Roman Catholic up until the age of 18-19. Around this time I met, at work a Methodist minister who told me about Jesus in a way I never heard before. Shortly after I attended the church he preached at a united Methodist church for about the next twenty + years. It was quite a rocky road. I became a christian after 10-15 years who hardly attended church any more but also couldn’t, with a clear conscience live a life with God. But I tried.

Around the end of this 20+ years, this same minister, who was now reformed brought me to another church, a Reformed Congregational church. This was my first time being exposed to expository preaching. It was mind blowing, everything changed. Scripture was teaching differently, it started making sense. Some people say there was a verse that changed them but for me it was just scripture itself, I cannot narrow it down, the word was alive. After being introduced over a time to the doctrines of grace, I did not want to believe them. There was one in particular.

I spent, about 7 years studying into these trying to prove it wrong. I bought and was given books that were suppose to show and prove the DOG wrong. But the opposite happened. Scripture destroyed them. This is where I believe the old saying, “coming kicking and screaming, comes from.”

I have been attending forum boards for over 20 years. I enjoy talking with other believers, learning and debating. But I have noticed in many forums there are people who attack other people (I’ve been guilty myself) there are people who explicitly teach a false gospel and it is never dealt with. I grew tired of that.

Debate is good, iron sharpens iron. proverbs 27:17.
However, insults to Jesus should not be allowed, and false teaches should be pointed out and dealt with.

So I decided to start a forum, hence: Christ centered community apologetics. {My brother in Christ, Ladodgers6 came up with the name. So that credit goes to him. Which I believe is a great representation of our aim} Thanks brother.

I also realize I cannot do this alone. So I asked a few if they were interested in being part of the staff. Thankfully they are onboard.
I need to be held accountable and share a part of a Christ centered forum.

My only hope is, that Christ gets all the glory. He alone is worthy.

If we cannot have integrity and honor Christ. I’ll just shut it down.

I expect people to share and debate their beliefs. Just don’t attack the person and honor my Lord.

The real Connecticut/New England.

I'm from southern Connecticut (Fairfield County - not the really rich or really poor part of it). Too much disloyalty to New England there. They should just break away and become part of New York.

Wonderful to see how God has worked in and blessed your life for His glory.

I have some similarities to your background. I too went to a UMC church, but was never Catholic. I recall the preachers hell and brimstome style. Back then there was no a/c in the church, but little cardboard handheld fans which added to the drama of preaching about hell.

Later on I went to an IFB church in Ohio, but it was far from the IFB stigma. I learned what IFB meant when I moved to the midwest, and found out its legalistic methods. I was never part of that type of belief system.

Long story short I was introduced to the anacronym TULIP. It intrigued me. After some time reading the word of God, it all came together for me. Now we belong to a solid Reformed Baptist church.

Awesome thanks for sharing brother !!!

I also had the experience of no particular verse thing, it was more like the Bible in general. But I do know it happened to me while reading Paul.
