ESV, Genesis 1:

26a Then God said, “Let us make [H6213 asah] man in our image"
H6213 occurs 2628 times.

27 So God created [H1254 bara] man in his own image,
Here H6213 and H1254 were used interchangeably.

in the image of God he created [H1254 bara] him;
male and female he created [H1254 bara] them.
H1254 occurs 55 times. We can see that bara does not exclusively refer only to the so-called creation ex nihilo (“out of nothing”)

Answers in Genesis:

It is true that in Scripture only God is the subject of the verb bara; men make (asah) things, but only God creates (bara).1 But God also makes (asah) things.

Please?

When citing Scripture? Do not place them using the '' mark feature in the forum software.

When you do that?

What you cite from Scripture will appear like you were quoting something from another post.

So, if anyone responds to your post?
The Scripture you cited will not be transferred to their Reply.

Simply type the " " manually for the passage you wish to quote to avoid that problem.

Thanks.....

(Tony, just a thought. It is difficult to discuss what you say when your references are written as you do, not showing up for consideration in a reply, when quoting by the usual means what you wrote. Maybe you can find a different way to include them within your post.)

Anyhow, this fact you have brought up (that in scripture only God is said to "create", but is also said, like man is said, to "make") may be relevant to some discussions/debates, such as the implications and meanings concerning free will/ choice.
