I think one of the best things about a forum like this is the development of the skill of demonstrating what we believe. This demonstration skill would be in contrast to demanding others agree with us.
One of the sub-skills of it is to find the next open-ended question which would further clarify where each party is. OEQs don’t let a person dictate to others what to believe. Clarity , not agreement , is the goal.
Demonstration is competitive. A point need not be expressed in a flashy way , although that can enhance. It must simply say the most necessary thing, the most directly and coherently, and with brevity.
This is why huge paragraphs at a forum like this often are counterproductive.
The most productive are the shortest definitive propositions. A person who winds all around what they mean to say is exhausting.
The person who has never encountered questions or reports it as harassment is not going to be practicing good defense of the faith, which by name us the mission of this forum. (Both practice for and engagement in it).
The person who , alternately, is defensive about questions is a giveaway as a flimsy position. “Christian truth is objective and therefore open to all questions.”—LAbri Fellowship. To avoid questions, either as a general rule or a particular one, is telltale for failing to have a solid basis.
